Putin’s special envoy Dmitriev after his meeting with Witkoff: Dialogue process is positive and constructive

Kirill Dmitriev

Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev said after a meeting with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff that the dialogue process between the US and Russia is "going positively and constructively".

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Ukrainska Pravda.

"One of the main topics is the resumption of Russian-American relations and dialogue, which was interrupted during the Biden administration. Many countries are trying to disrupt the dialogue (between the US and Russia - ed.). Russia wants to emphasise that the Trump administration is focused on restoring relations," Dmitriev said.

He also told Russian journalists that the Americans "hear Russia's position" and are ready for constructive solutions.

Putin's envoy said that during his talks with his American counterparts, there was a lot of talk about mutual investment.

According to him, Russians already "see a great desire of American companies" to return to the Russian market, but businesses will be allowed to enter only where "it will be useful for Russia and where the authorities approve it".

Dmitriev stressed the fact that Russia was not affected by the new duties imposed by Trump on other countries.

The Russian envoy said that talks with the US were allegedly underway to resume air travel between the two countries and active discussions were underway about joint activities in the Arctic, as well as the restoration of religious and cultural relations between the countries.

"The process of dialogue is positive and constructive," the Kremlin envoy concluded.

As a reminder, the United States specifically temporarily lifted sanctions against Dmitriev in order to issue him a visa to travel to Washington.
