Kremlin must quickly agree to US ceasefire proposal or reject it - Barrot

Russia must voice its position on ceasefire

The "Coalition of the Willing" is preparing options for a truce and demands that Russia respond to the proposal, even if it is negative.

According to Censor.NET, with reference to the EP, this was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.

"A strong Ukrainian army should be the first level of peace guarantee. That is why our military command will be in Kyiv today," he said.

France and Britain are also in contact with the United States, "offering scenarios for monitoring the ceasefire," the minister added.

The French foreign minister believes that Ukraine "made an important concession" when it agreed to the US proposal for an unconditional ceasefire. And Russia is acting contrary to this agreement, "continuing attacks on energy infrastructure and war crimes," and has not given a final answer on its readiness for a truce.

"Now Russia must respond to the US proposal. Whether it is a "yes" or "no" answer, it must be a quick response," Barrot emphasized.

The minister is confident that Russia will not actually agree to a truce.

"Ukrainians want peace, but Putin has a different opinion. He proves it with his attacks on energy infrastructure, as well as the fact that last week, he announced a new draft of 160,000 soldiers, the largest draft in the last 14 years. So Vladimir Putin is definitely not showing any desire for a ceasefire or negotiations," he concluded.
