Ukraine and US are preparing for in-person negotiations on subsoil agreement - Sybiha

The Ukrainian delegation will soon travel to the United States for in-person negotiations on a new draft agreement on the distribution of profits from the use of subsoil.
This was announced by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during a conversation with journalists in Brussels, Censor.NET reports with reference to the EP.
According to the minister, the second round of online political talks with the US side will take place this Friday. The first round took place last week.
"We have already had one round. I think there should be another round today. The next step is the in-person visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Washington to discuss the details," Sybiha said.
The visit to Washington is expected to take place in the next one to two weeks.
Alongside the political dialog, a separate track of negotiations at the level of legal advisors will be launched. It will involve one of the leading international law firms that will provide expert support to the Ukrainian side.
"It will assist the negotiation team and will also conduct its own track directly with American lawyers," the minister said.
Sybiha also emphasized that the future agreement is undergoing a thorough legal assessment for compliance with Ukrainian legislation and Kyiv's European integration course.
"This agreement must meet the interests of the two countries and cannot contradict our European integration course, and we are telling the American side about this directly," he emphasized.
