Work on construction of fortifications in the Kharkiv region is 99.9% complete

More than 35,000 km² of Ukrainian territory has already been cleared of mines and explosive devices as part of humanitarian demining.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting on April 4, Censor.NET reports.

"The government has identified humanitarian demining as one of the key priorities for recovery. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we have been able to return more than 35,000 km² of our territories to safe use," Shmyhal said.

According to him, Ukraine is currently operating:

  • 260 demining machines,

  • 87 mine action operators,

  • about 5,500 specialists who clear Ukrainian land of mines every day.

Special attention is paid to agricultural areas, which are crucial for the economy.

"More than 1,000 hectares of agricultural land have already been cleaned up at the expense of the state. This is important for the sowing season, for the harvest, for Ukrainian exports and our economy," the Prime Minister said.

According to him, the sowing campaign has already started in all regions, and almost 1 million hectares have already been sown.
