Any peace deal between Russia and Ukraine will be "hard to digest" but better than more deaths - Turkish Foreign Ministry

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan believes that any potential peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia will be "difficult to digest," but it is still better than new deaths and destruction.
He said this in an interview with Reuters, Censor.NET reports.
According to him, Turkey supports the US initiative to end Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. But the parties are "a little far" from reaching a peace agreement.
"It will be extremely hard to digest any proposal. But when we look at the other option, which brings more death and destruction, I think whatever conditions we have... will be more reasonable than the alternative," Fidan said.
At the same time, the Turkish foreign minister is convinced that Europe will not be able to provide security guarantees for Ukraine without the support of the United States. He recognized the need for deterrence to prevent the fighting in Ukraine from resuming.
"Huge efforts are being made to get the American side to re-engage in supporting Ukraine's security," he said, referring to recent talks between European states.
Fidan added that once any agreement is reached, all parties, including Russia, must abide by it.
