Almost 50% of Ukrainians consider US bastion of democracy despite Trump’s rhetoric - poll

47.9% of Ukrainians consider the United States a strategic partner and a symbol of global democracy, despite Donald Trump's unfriendly statements.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Institute of Social and Political Psychology ISPP, Censor.NET reports with reference to "І-U".
Only one in five Ukrainians (18.7%) disagreed with this statement.
About 22% of respondents would be ready to give the United States access to Ukrainian rare earth metals as "payment" for military assistance. 45% disagreed with this idea, and 33% were undecided.
As noted, interesting data relate to the impact of US-Russian negotiations on expectations of a just peace: 28% of respondents agree that due to these negotiations and the deterioration of Zelenskyy's relations with Trump, Ukraine's victory seems unlikely. At the same time, the majority - 41.4% - are not yet ready to give up their belief in a just peace.
Regional differences are also significant: in particular, in western Ukraine, "decline" sentiments are three times more common than in the south (36.9% vs. 12.9%).
The assessment of the possibility of resistance without US assistance also proved to be ambiguous:
- 27.7% believe that Ukraine is able to resist on its own
- 34.8% disagree with this
- 37.3% find it difficult to answer
In the west of the country, there are more optimists: 41.1% are confident in Ukraine's ability to defend itself without the United States, 30.1% are not, and 28.8% are undecided.
The survey was conducted from 15 to 25 March 2025 via face-to-face interviews. A total of 1,213 people aged 18 and older were interviewed on the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. The margin of error is 3.2%. The results were presented at a press conference at "Interfax-Ukraine" on Wednesday.
