Only topic of negotiations with Russia is ceasefire in Ukraine - US State Department
U.S. President Donald Trump has made it clear that there is only one point in the negotiations with Russia: a ceasefire. There will be no other dynamics until this is sorted out.
According to Censor.NET, this was stated by US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
"The current situation is a real meat grinder, and no outcome is possible as long as the shooting and killing continues," Bruce said.
She emphasized that this is not a conflict that can drag on for another six months or a year. According to her, the president has made it clear: The United States supports the diplomatic path, but is watching closely to see how the process goes.
She recalled that at the NATO press conference, Rubio "made it clear that we will actually find out in a few weeks whether Russia is serious" about the ceasefire.
"So we will take him at his word... And I think that Russia certainly needs to take this seriously... This is not going to last six months or a year or whatever. And the president has also made it clear that we want diplomacy. But the fact is that we are watching and judging how this process is going," Bruce added.
As a reminder, the U.S. State Department also reported on the results of its meetingwith the Russian delegation in Istanbul.
