Fatal beating of young woman in Bukovyna: 18-year-old suspect placed in custody without bail
Court orders custody without bail for 18-year-old suspect in fatal beating of his 27-year-old girlfriend in Hlyboka, Chernivtsi Region
The Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported the decision on Facebook, according to Censor.NET.
"At the request of prosecutors from the Chernivtsi District Prosecutor’s Office, the Hlyboka District Court has ordered a non-alternative preventive measure for the 18-year-old suspect in the case of grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of a 27-year-old woman from Bukovyna (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was taken into custody directly from the courtroom," the statement reads.
Law enforcement officials note that the suspect faces up to ten years in prison.
Earlier, police investigators served an 18-year-old resident of Hlyboka village, Chernivtsi region, with a notice of suspicion of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm that led to the death of a 27-year-old woman. The victim was in a coma after the beating.
