Norway will provide 10 billion kroner (830 million euros) to train and equip a brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will be formed from existing smaller units. The project is being implemented jointly with the Nordic and Baltic countries.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.

As noted by the Minister of Defense Tore Onshuus Sandvik during a meeting of the Coordination Group for the Defense of Ukraine in Brussels, the brigade is being formed in cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries. It is not about creating an entirely new unit, but about strengthening existing Ukrainian brigades with smaller units that can quickly integrate.

According to Sandvik, Norway is playing a prominent role in this initiative, as it is involved in supplying equipment, ammunition and training.

The goal is to create a full-fledged combat unit of the ground forces that can act independently. The number of personnel in a brigade usually ranges from 3 to 5 thousand. The project is flexible and scalable.

Separately, the Norwegian Minister of Defense met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umierov, to discuss support for Ukraine in other international initiatives.

As a reminder, Norway has recently officially become part of the UK-led and Latvian-led "drone coalition" for Ukraine.
