This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, on Telegram, Censor.NET reports.
"We are organising rescue and relief operations in Sumy. Russia hit the city center with ballistic missiles. Right when there were many people on the street. Deliberate destruction of civilians on a major church holiday.
From the first minutes, rescuers and police arrived at the scene. There are many victims. According to preliminary data, 21 people have been killed and at least 20 more injured as of this minute. People were injured right in the middle of the street, in cars, public transport, in houses," he said.
According to Klymenko, the police restricted access to the affected area.
"Please adhere to the restrictions so that emergency services can work quickly. Every minute is important for the lives of the wounded. We are deploying a headquarters to receive applications and provide assistance to the victims. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service and the police are working with the victims.
Investigators and forensic experts are at the sites of the strikes to collect evidence and document the brutal war crime of the Russian Federation against the civilian population," he added.
