National Guard officer under influence of drugs fatally hit three servicemen, sentenced to 12 years in prison. PHOTO

The Kryvyi Rih District Court of Dnipropetrovsk region sentenced a National Guard officer to 12 years in prison for causing the deaths of three people in a road accident.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General's Office.

It is noted that the accident occurred in February 2023.

The investigation established that the man was driving under the influence of drugs after having smoked marijuana. Driving on the Mykolaiv-Kryvyi Rih highway, he drove into the oncoming lane while overtaking, where he collided with a VAZ car.

The collision killed three soldiers - the driver and two passengers of the car. The convict pleaded not guilty.

The court found the law enforcement officer guilty of violating traffic rules by a person under the influence of drugs, which resulted in the death of three people (Part 4 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
