sentence

Another FSB agent who spied in the Cherkasy region was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property based on the SSU evidence base.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press center.

What data did the traitor pass to the enemy?

According to the investigation, the offender was preparing coordinates for a Russian missile and drone strike on the locations of the Defense Forces.

Among the potential targets of the enemy were the National Guard units involved in combat missions on the eastern and southern fronts.

Hoping to "bypass" the Ukrainian air defense, the occupants additionally instructed their agent to identify the basing points of mobile fire groups.

The SSU exposed the offender in advance, documented his crimes and detained him in September 2024, when the agent was conducting additional reconnaissance near a military facility.

At the scene, a cell phone was seized from the detainee, on which he was preparing an agent's "report" to the FSB.

What is known about the offender?

According to the investigation, the suspect is a 45-year-old unemployed man from Cherkasy, recruited by the occupiers through a Telegram channel in search of "quick money".

To perform hostile tasks, he traveled around the regional center and its outskirts, covertly recording the likely locations of Ukrainian defenders.

The traitor also tried to "darkly" obtain the necessary information during everyday conversations with his acquaintances.

He transferred the collected information to Google maps, which he planned to send to the FSB along with photos of potential targets.

Based on the SSU's counterintelligence and investigation, the court found the agent guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
