The US plans to close a number of embassie

Members of US President Donald Trump's administration are considering closing a number of US embassies and consulates around the world.

According to Censor.NET, CNN reports.

In particular, it is recommended to close the embassies in Malta and Luxembourg, as well as in Lesotho, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, and South Sudan.

The list of US diplomatic missions that may be closed also includes five consulates in France, two in Germany, two in Bosnia and Herzegovina, one in the United Kingdom, one in South Africa, and one in South Korea.

In addition, it is proposed to reduce the US diplomatic presence in Somalia and Iraq (which play a leading role in the US anti-terrorism efforts) and to "downsize" other diplomatic missions.

It is not yet known whether these recommendations are supported by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and in what form they will be finally approved.
