Russian gas supplies to Europe have risen by 22%, — Reuters

Russia’s gas exports to Europe have risen due to the crisis in the Middle East

Russian gas supplies to Europe rose by 22% year-over-year in March, despite an overall decline in exports in previous years.

According to Censor.NET, Reuters reports this, citing data from the European gas transmission group Entsog.

Specifically, approximately 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas were transported via the Turkish Stream pipeline in March, compared to 1.4 billion cubic meters during the same period in 2025.

What is known about the growth

In the first three months of 2026, Russian gas exports to Europe totaled about 5 billion cubic meters, an 11% increase from last year.

According to the agency, the increase in supplies is linked to the crisis in the energy markets, particularly due to Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

How the situation has changed

Earlier, in 2025, Russian gas exports to Europe fell by 44%—to 18 billion cubic meters—marking the lowest level since the mid-1970s.

By comparison, in 2018–2019, supply volumes reached approximately 180 billion cubic meters per year.

Against the backdrop of energy instability, fluctuations in oil prices are also being observed. In particular, the price of Brent crude has fallen, while Russian Urals crude is on the rise.
