Syrskyi has done away competent brigade commanders in senseless counter-attacks, and now speaks of problem with AWOL, – Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Kashchenko
Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Kashchenko cannot understand why the Defence Forces have still not tackled inhumane treatment.
He made this statement on Facebook, reports Censor.NET.
What is known?
"If the Commander-in-Chief speaks of inhumane treatment, what exactly does he mean and why is this still not being tackled? If the Commander-in-Chief speaks of harsh punishments, what exactly are these harsh punishments, apart from transfer to assault units?
Are these intentions or are there already clear decisions, preceded by prior gathering of information on the issue of AWOL, its comprehensive analysis involving relevant specialists (psychologists, lawyers)? And then the drafting of a clear plan and its implementation. But here it is still unclear how to tackle the problem: by addressing the AWOL or through harsher punishments. Has the Commander-in-Chief himself dealt with the AWOL problem?" he commented on Syrskyi’s statement regarding the AWOL issues.
"Because so far it seems he’s done away with competent generals and brigade commanders, wiped out everything he could in senseless counter-attacks — from motivated personnel to foreign equipment — demotivated his subordinates from soldier to general as much as possible, and then sat down and played the smart alec about what needs to be done," added Kashchenko.
What led up to this?
- Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that he was against increasing the penalties for AWOL.
He noted that the main reason for AWOL is a reluctance to serve and fear for one’s life. According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to avoid problems with mobilisation, representatives of the territorial recruitment and social support centres (TCR and SS) should treat the mobilised "humanely".
