UK-convened meeting on unblocking Strait of Hormuz brings together over 40 countries

A UK-convened advisory meeting on unblocking the Strait of Hormuz was held in Britain with the participation of more than 40 countries.
As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the UK Foreign Office
Details of the meeting
The UK Foreign Office said that the previously announced UK-chaired meeting on unblocking the Strait of Hormuz took place on Thursday, April 2.
It was attended by foreign ministers and other representatives of 40 countries from different regions of the world. In her opening remarks, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stressed the broad international participation in the discussion.
Earlier, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, when announcing the meeting, had said that 35 countries would take part and did not specify the date of the event.
He also noted that, following diplomatic consultations, a separate meeting of military planners was planned to consider the military and technical aspects of the issue.
Context
- As Censor.NET previously reported, the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s key transport arteries, with around one-third of global oil trade and more than a quarter of liquefied gas supplies passing through it.
- Its blockade has an immediate impact on global energy prices, disrupts supply logistics, and creates risks to the energy security of both Europe and the global market, as most countries in the region effectively have no alternative export routes.
