EU extended sanctions against Russia for six months
Today, the European Council formally adopted the decision on the extension of sanctions against Russia for another six months in connection with the situation in Ukraine.
"On Dec. 21, 2015, the Council prolonged EU economic sanctions against Russia until July 31, 2016," the communique notes.
Last Friday, the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) in the European Union reached an agreement on the extension of sanctions. It is expected that the legal acts will be published in the EU Official Journal on Tuesday and the sanctions will take effect from this moment.
