PGO launches special probe against Arbuzov

The Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a special preliminary investigation against former Head of Ukraine's National Bank Serhii Arbuzov on suspicion of embezzlement of another's property on a massive scale through abuse of office (part 5, article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As reported by Censor.NET referring to PGO press service, the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to 12 years, with revocation of right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.

Current version of the Criminal Procedure Code provides for a special procedure of pre-trial investigation (in absentia), if a person is on an interstate or international wanted list.
