Pro-Russian MEPs plotting "Rusyn provocation" in Ukraine’s Zakarpatia region, - Governor Moskal

An offsite meeting of the pro-Russian Members of the European Parliament from Hungary, France, Germany, and possibly some other countries (about five people totally) is planned to be held by Kremlin’s behest in the Zakarpatia region of Ukraine in late March or early April.

The reason of the meeting is a study on "ensuring the rights of Rusyns", which will be followed by a report with strongly-pronounced tendentious nature laid before the European Parliament, Censor.NET reports citing the statement by Zakarpatia Regional State Administration Head Hennadii Moskal.

"The Russian side wants to engage local Rusyn representatives in the meeting, who would confirm the persecution of Rusyns in Zakarpatia," Regional State Administration head wrote.

"The offsite meeting participants also plan to meet with the region authorities. However, such a meeting is literally impossible. The state authorities have nothing and cannot have something to do with this pro-Russian provocation involving MEPs. The relevant information about the "offsite meeting" has been submitted to the Security Service of Ukraine, which will take all necessary response measures in the case of violations of the Ukrainian legislation," Hennadii Moskal wrote.
