Defense Minister says seventh round of mobilization might be waived
Ukraine's Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak says the 7th round of mobilization to the Ukrainian army might be waived if enough contract soldiers apply to serve in the armed forces and the conflict in the east of Ukraine does not escalate.
As reported by Censor.NET citing 112 Ukraine TV channel, he said this in an interview to Novoie Vremia."We have enlisted almost 33,000 of contract soldiers. This means 5-6 thousand people monthly. If the dynamics continues, we should be able to cover our needs. Then we will do without the mobilization," the head of the Defense Ministry said.
Poltorak added that if this does not happen or the conflict in the east escalates, the new round of mobilization will be held.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said the next round of mobilization was possible.
