Speaker Parubii promises speedy ratification of Ukraine-Canada FTA
Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andrii Parubii says the parliament will ratify the agreement on creation of a free trade zone with Canada the soonest possible.
"I am very pleased that a free trade agreement has been signed today, and I want to promise you that the Ukrainian parliament will ratify it as soon as possible. It will be a very significant and important holiday for us," Parubii said during the meeting.
The speaker expressed his gratitude for financial, political, and humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine by Canada.
He assured Trudeau that Ukraine is a reliable and prospective ally for Canada.
In turn, Trudeau drew attention to the need of strengthening the economic partnership.
During July 11-12, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau is staying in Kyiv on his official visit. The signing of the Ukraine-Canada Free Trade Agreement comes as the main outcome of the visit. The document took effect immediately, allowing the removal of 99 percent of trade barriers that have existed between the two countries for the next seven years.
