Traffic in downtown Kyiv shut down over religious procession
The center of Ukrainian capital will be closed for transport today due to the movement of the religious procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church organized by the Moscow Patriarchate.
Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.The administration notes that the schedule and routs of public transport will be changed as the following streets will be blocked on the occasion of the Rus-Ukraine Christianization celebration starting from the beginning of the procession's movement through Kyiv until the end of the rally (approximately at 5 p.m.) today, July 27:
Triokhsviatytelska Street, Khreshchatyk Street (section between Mykhailivska Street and Yevropeiska Square), Volodymyrskyi Descent, Parkova Road (the section between Heroiv Krut Alley and Hrushevskoho Street), Hrushevskoho Street (the section between Yevropeiska Square and Shovkovychna Street).
It is also noted that the latest updates on changes in the public transport operation can be found on the official website of Kyivpastrans public utility company.
As previously reported, the so-called "religious procession for peace" started in the east of the country from the Sviatohirsk Monastery on July 3, and in the west of the country from the Pochaiv Monastery on July 9. The participants in both processions will meet in Kyiv at St. Volodymyr Hill and walk together to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, where a ceremonial service will be held on July 27, the eve of the celebration of Christianization of Rus-Ukraine.
