On the night of August 22, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck facilities at the "Novokuybyshevsky" oil refinery in the Samara Region of the Russian Federation, resulting in a fire on the refinery’s premises.

- The "Novokuybyshevsk" oil refinery is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the Russian Federation and is part of PJSC "Rosneft Oil Company." The facility has a processing capacity of approximately 8.8 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant produces more than 20 types of products, including automotive and aviation fuel, diesel, and lubricant components.
