Defence Forces have struck enemy ’Iskander’ launcher near our borders, – Zelenskyy

Iskander struck

In the border zone, the Defence Forces struck a Russian ‘Iskander’ launcher.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy whilst speaking to journalists, according to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform.

Successful strike

"Today we have achieved another success. We cannot disclose many details due to the sensitivity of the operation, but the fact remains. We have struck an ‘Iskander’ launcher near our borders. I am grateful to our soldiers who are carrying this out. This is part of our operation to hunt down their systems located nearby," he said.

According to the president, striking launchers is one way of countering Russian shelling.

"In other words, this is one approach when our supply of anti-ballistic missiles is limited – there is another tactic, a more complex one, which we have developed – and that is targeting their nearby launch sites. This is a separate matter, a separate programme, a separate operation. And today we have succeeded in doing this. Well done to our Defence Forces," added Zelenskyy.

What led up to this?

  • Earlier, Ignat stated that destroying Iskander launchers is not easy; it is better to target missile production facilities and deployment sites.
