Frederiksen called on Europeans to supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles: Political will is needed
Western countries are perfectly capable of supplying Ukraine with Patriot systems — provided there is the political will to do so.
This was stated by the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, during a speech to the Danish media in Kyiv, as quoted by DR, according to Censor.NET.
Frederiksen called on Ukraine’s air defence allies
"We have Patriot systems in various parts of the world. Denmark cannot do this, but it is entirely possible to provide more assistance to Ukraine in terms of air defence," said the Danish Prime Minister, without naming any specific countries. "If we do not do this, Ukraine will face a winter during which the Russians will destroy everything around them, launch attacks – including with ballistic missiles – and kill countless people," she said.
Frederiksen pointed out that, although Europeans are currently shouldering the bulk of the responsibility for supporting Ukraine, they still need American support, not least because it is the US that holds the licence to manufacture Patriot missiles.
What led up to it?
Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is seeking to obtain 300 missiles for its Patriot systems in order to strengthen its air defences against Russian ballistic missiles this winter.
