Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the people of Ukraine on Independence Day.

"The historical destinies of the Belarusian and Ukrainian peoples are closely intertwined. Our nations are bound by centuries-old traditions, memories of shared victories, and difficult trials," he noted.
Lukashenko is convinced that "despite geopolitical upheavals, future generations of Belarusians and Ukrainians will preserve their age-old friendly and fraternal ties, and Minsk and Kyiv will resume mutually beneficial cooperation based on the principles of trust, respect, and equality."
"Hospitable Belarus is always open to every Ukrainian who comes with good intentions," he added.
The dictator also wished all citizens of Ukraine "health and prosperity, and their country—peace and happiness."
Context
As is well known, Russian occupation forces have been entering Ukrainian territory from Belarus since February 24, 2022. They advanced toward the capital through the Chernobyl zone and the Kyiv region, as well as along the Chernihiv and Sumy fronts.
At the same time, the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus did not directly participate in the ground invasion.
