The most outstanding Ukrainians of all time: survey results

Ukrainians have named the three most outstanding Ukrainians of all time.

This is reported by Censor.NET, citing a study by the "Rating" sociological group.

Details

Over 60 per cent of respondents named the poet and painter Taras Shevchenko.

"28.4 per cent named Lesia Ukrainka, 15.9 per cent named Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, 11 per cent named Stepan Bandera, 10.4 per cent named Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 9.9 per cent named Ivan Mazepa, 9.8 per cent named Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, 9.1 per cent named Hryhorii Skovoroda, Viacheslav Chornovil – 8.9 per cent," the study states.

Among prominent Ukrainians, respondents also named Valerii Zaluzhnyi – 4 per cent, Vasyl Stus – 3.9 per cent, Lina Kostenko – 2.8 per cent, Oleksandr Usyk – 2.7 per cent, Petro Poroshenko – 2.5 per cent, Yaroslav the Wise – 2.4 per cent, Serhii Koroliov – 2.3 per cent, Volodymyr the Great – 2.1 per cent, and Roman Shukhevych – 2 per cent.

"Fewer than 2 per cent named Andrii Kuzmenko (Skriabin), Andrii Shevchenko, Pavlo Skoropadskyi, Ivan Kotlyarevskyi, Symon Petliura, Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachnyi, Pylyp Orlyk and Ivan Sirko. Around 1 per cent named Bohdan Stupka, Ihor Sikorskyi and Viktor Yushchenko," the sociologists added.
