Russians dropped aerial bomb on Sumy State University: several buildings have been damaged. PHOTOS
On the evening of 20 September, Russian forces launched a guided air strike on the grounds of Sumy State University. The attack damaged the main building and other nearby buildings, but there were no casualties.
This was reported by Sumy State University, according to Censor.NET.
It is reported that the strike damaged the façades, windows and doors of the university’s main building. Other university buildings located nearby also sustained damage.
"The most important thing is that no one was hurt. The attack damaged the façades, windows and doors of the university’s main building, as well as other buildings located nearby. Russian forces are once again targeting civilian infrastructure and educational institutions," the statement reads.
The university is currently continuing to deal with the aftermath of the Russian attack and assess the damage to its property. Sumy State University has also appealed for support to aid its recovery.
This is not the first Russian attack on Sumy State University. In September 2023, the university was already hit by an air strike, and in April and August 2025, it came under missile attack. As a result of the Russian shelling, the university lost, amongst other things, 60,000 books.
