Arsonists who destroyed Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in Kyiv on FSB orders receive 15- and 10-year prison terms
Two Russian agents whom the Security Service of Ukraine exposed in March 2025 over arson attacks in Kyiv have received prison sentences based on evidence collected by the agency.

The investigation established that the perpetrators carried out FSB orders to destroy relay cabinets on Ukrzaliznytsia railway lines in the capital.
In this way, the ruscists hoped to disrupt uninterrupted freight logistics, particularly towards frontline areas.
According to the investigation, the Russian special service recruited two local drug addicts to prepare and carry out the acts of sabotage. One of them was already serving a sentence for possessing prohibited substances.
They came to the FSB’s attention through Telegram channels where they were looking for "easy" money to buy drugs.
After being recruited, the perpetrators received instructions from their Russian handler to purchase a flammable mixture to destroy a relay cabinet.
The agents broke open the protective casing of the power equipment and set it on fire from the inside. At the same time, they filmed the blaze on a mobile phone as a "report" for the FSB.
Investigators established that the sabotage was remotely coordinated by a "liaison" for the Russian special service located in the Moscow region.
During searches, officers found the clothing the detainees had worn while committing the arson attack, as well as mobile phones containing evidence that they had worked for the enemy.
Based on evidence gathered by SSU investigators, the court found both agents guilty of sabotage committed by an organised group under martial law.
One was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property, while the other received a 10-year prison sentence after the court took his cooperation with the investigation into account.
In addition, a Russian citizen from the Moscow region who handled the agent group was notified of suspicion in absentia. The investigation into his case is ongoing.
