A clash broke out in Kyiv between activists and Municipal Guard officers during a protest against the continued construction of a district heating network in Teremky. One protester injured her arm, and police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
This was reported by activists Annabella Morina and veteran Oleh Symoroz, as well as the Kyiv police, Censor.NET reports.
According to the reports, protesters opposed the continuation of construction work in Teremky, where hundreds of trees were felled in early August. Some activists lay down in front of the machinery, after which Municipal Guard officers began forcibly removing them from the road.
A video published by Symoroz shows Municipal Guard officers dragging a woman by her arms as she screams that they are hurting her.
According to Morina, force was used against female participants during the protest. She also said that those injured had filed a police report concerning the actions of Municipal Guard officers.
Police did not specify the exact circumstances in which the woman injured her arm. Law enforcement officers said that a police combat medic provided her with first aid, after which she was examined by ambulance personnel.
"The actions of police officers, including Dialogue Police officers, are intended solely to ensure public order and safety, as the presence of heavy machinery, metal structures and an excavated trench poses increased risks to people nearby," police said.
Law enforcement officers have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
