Europe must overcome "sanctions fatigue" and step up economic pressure on Moscow.

"It’s clear that after nearly five years of war, there is a certain degree of fatigue. But from the very beginning, we committed to continuing to support Ukraine for as long as necessary and to keep up the pressure on Russia for as long as necessary. It’s important not to deviate from this course," he said.
What led up to this?
It was previously reported that EU ambassadors agreed to remove Russian billionaires Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Friedman from the sanctions list. At the same time, they decided to extend the restrictions against the remaining approximately 3,000 individuals and organizations for three years.
How EU Countries Called for Changes to the Sanctions
- France had previously called for Alisher Usmanov to be removed from the EU sanctions list. The country cited national security concerns as the reason for its position.
- After that, Luxembourg began demanding a similar decision regarding Mikhail Friedman.
- Slovakia also supported the removal of both billionaires from the sanctions list.
