In the Vovchansk sector, the tactical initiative currently lies largely with Ukrainian forces. At the same time, the situation in the area east of Vovchansk remains dynamic, and a significant portion of the fighting is taking place in the gray zone.
According to Censor.NET, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, stated this in comments to Ukrinform.
"We are refraining from actively commenting on this area for now, because most of the operations there involve a struggle for control over the gray zone, and the situation is changing quite dynamically, " the spokesperson noted.
He explained that due to the rapidly changing situation, information regarding control over specific areas may become outdated even before it is made public.
"I would wait for a more definitive stabilization," Trehubov added.
Russia has reduced the intensity of its offensive operations
At the same time, the spokesperson noted that, overall, the tactical initiative in the area of responsibility currently lies more with Ukrainian forces.
According to Trehubov, Russian troops have reduced the intensity of their offensive operations since the summer.
"After the summer, the Russians ran out of steam a bit, reduced the intensity of their offensive operations, and turned to ‘creative psychotherapy’—drawing fantastical maps on which they claim to control Bilyi Kolodiaz, Vovchanski Khutory, Polohy, and even Kupiansk," he said.
Ukraine aims to push the Russians back to the border
Trehubov emphasized that the desired outcome for the Defense Forces is to push Russian troops back to the state border.
This, he said, should secure the territory between the border and Kharkiv from incursions by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups and from shelling.
