Von der Leyen condemned the drone attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has condemned the attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea following fresh incidents off the coasts of Bulgaria and Romania. She emphasised that the exact circumstances of the attacks are still being established, but that the situation is causing growing concern.
According to Censor.NET, von der Leyen wrote about this on the social media platform X.
"Commercial vessels – and their innocent crews – are being targeted in attacks, which have already resulted in casualties at sea," said the President of the European Commission.
Von der Leyen highlighted the drone attack on two commercial vessels in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone.
This happened the day after a Turkish vessel carrying grain from Ukraine was struck by drones and sank off the coast of Romania.
"Although the exact circumstances of these incidents are still being investigated, the way events have unfolded is a cause for serious concern. Attacks on civilian vessels are unacceptable," von der Leyen emphasised.
She also expressed her full solidarity with the EU Member States on the eastern flank.
