Sybiha on provocations at Latvian-Belarusian border: Putin is deliberately using migration as weapon with Lukashenko’s assistance

Sybiha: Putin uses migration as a weapon with Lukashenko’s assistance

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha commented on the provocations at the Latvian-Belarusian border.

He wrote about this on the social media platform X, according to Censor.NET.

Putin is using migration as a weapon

"Ukraine expresses its full solidarity with Latvia in connection with the incident on its border with Belarus, during which armed individuals threatened Latvian military personnel who were escorting migrants to the border.

"There should be no doubt: Moscow is behind this. Putin is deliberately using migration as a weapon, with the assistance of Lukashenko, to destabilize Europe," the minister said.

Sybiga emphasized that this is part of a broader aggressive strategy. Russia and the Belarusian regime continue to test European security, resorting to acts of sabotage with increasing frequency.

Pressure on Russia

"The response must be increased pressure, strengthened borders, and greater support for the Ukrainian Defense Forces—a powerful force that defends Europe," the foreign minister added.

What led up to it

It was previously reported that armed, masked men were leading migrants from Belarus toward the Latvian border. The Latvian military stopped an attempt by at least 20 illegal migrants to cross the border with Belarus.
