PURL is fastest tool for supporting Ukraine; $10 billion worth of weaponry has already been delivered – Dragone

Dragone announced increased support and $70 billion in aid.

The PURL mechanism operates effectively and enables Ukraine to receive the necessary weapons in accordance with its requests and priorities as quickly as possible. Under this program alone, Ukraine has already received weapons and systems worth approximately $10 billion.

According to Censor.NET, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, chairman of the NATO Military Committee, stated this in an interview with Ukrinform.

According to him, military support for Ukraine remains one of the Alliance’s key priorities. Dragone also emphasized that Ukrainian strikes on Russian rear areas and the stabilization of the front line are worsening Russia’s situation.

The NATO admiral noted that the PURL mechanism has proven to be highly effective.

"The PURL mechanism is up and running. It is the fastest tool, which became operational in July 2025. It is currently functioning very efficiently and promptly," added Dragone.

According to the admiral, Ukraine receives weapons in accordance with its own requests and established priorities.

"Ukraine receives what it needs, in accordance with its requests and priorities, as quickly as possible," he said.

Dragone also emphasized that PURL is not the only channel for military support to Ukraine.

NATO plans to provide Ukraine with $70 billion in 2026 and 2027

The admiral stated that the Alliance had allocated significant amounts of support for Ukraine, not only within the framework of PURL.

"The Alliance has decided to provide Ukraine with $70 billion this year and the same amount in 2027," Dragone said.

According to him, Ukraine has already received approximately $10 billion worth of systems and weapons under the PURL mechanism.

"Under the PURL program alone, Ukraine has already received systems and weapons worth approximately $10 billion," the admiral said.

He added that the allies are ready to continue stepping up support for Ukraine.

"This is a huge amount of money, and we are ready to step up our efforts to provide Ukraine with ever-better support," Dragone emphasized.

Ukraine's partners have not grown weary of providing support

When asked whether these figures indicate that Ukraine's partners have not grown weary of aid, Dragone gave a clear answer.

"No, they're stepping it up. They're motivated. We believe the allies will succeed," he said.

The admiral also linked this to the situation directly on the battlefield. According to him, Ukraine has been able to stabilize the front line, and its strikes against Russian rear areas are inflicting significant damage on the enemy.

"It is precisely thanks to your actions on the battlefield, strikes deep into Russian territory, and the fact that Ukraine has managed to stabilize the front line that the aggressor is not gaining new territory," Dragone noted.

He added that, in his view, the situation for Russia is actually getting worse.

"Russia's situation is actually getting worse, as it is losing territory to Ukraine," the admiral said.

Pressure on Russia could force Putin to the negotiating table

The admiral also highlighted Ukrainian strikes on Russian rear areas, which, he said, are causing significant damage to the Russian economy.

Dragone believes that Ukraine should continue to put pressure on Russia, particularly on the battlefield.

"We need to keep up this pace, and, in my opinion, that is exactly what will force Putin to come to the negotiating table," the admiral said.

He expressed hope that negotiations could begin in the near future.

"Whenever that happens—and I hope it will be soon—I'll be the first to applaud Putin," said Dragone.
