A man was killed and two others were injured as a result of a Russian night-time attack on Zaporizhzhia on 9 October. According to preliminary reports, the occupying forces used a guided aerial bomb (GAB), which exploded near a multi-storey residential block.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing the head of the Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Semikin.
It is noted that the enemy struck near one of the high-rise blocks.
"A man was killed in the enemy strike. Two people were injured," the report states.
Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Defence Council, clarified that the deceased was 50 years old.
"A woman and a man were injured – their injuries are minor. These are the consequences of the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia," the statement reads.
Fedorov noted that the Russians struck near several high-rise buildings. Facades and windows were damaged. Cars caught fire.
The injured are receiving medical attention.
Update
Later, Semikin reported that five people are currently known to have been injured, including a child.
"The enemy attacked a residential area. One of the strikes hit near an extracurricular education centre.
All the necessary services are working at the sites of the strikes. Medical assistance is being provided to the injured," the statement reads.
It later emerged that the number of casualties had risen. According to Fedorov, there are already seven casualties in the regional capital.
"Russian guided bombs destroyed and damaged residential buildings," the statement said.

What led up to this?
In the evening of 8 October 2026, the Russians launched a missile attack on Zaporizhzhia. The munitions struck civilian infrastructure. The enemy also used FPV drones.
It is reported that the shelling damaged blocks of flats and private residential buildings, outbuildings and vehicles.
Six people were injured in the enemy attack, including a 9-year-old boy.
