Trump after call with Putin: Russia to supply millions of tonnes of diesel to US and global markets

Trump and Putin

US President Donald Trump said he spoke with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on 9 October, during which the two sides agreed on large-scale supplies of Russian diesel fuel to US and global markets.

He wrote this on his Truth Social platform, Censor.NET reports.

What exactly Trump said

  • Trump described the conversation as "extremely successful". According to him, it was agreed that Russia would "immediately" supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel. Another 500,000 tonnes are due to arrive during November, followed immediately by 1 million tonnes.

"In addition, given the condition of Russian oil refineries, Russia will subsequently supply another 3,000,000 tonnes of diesel fuel within a short period," the US president added.

The stated volumes total 4.8 million tonnes.

"Prices will fall by record amounts"

Trump said that thanks to "full US control" over the Strait of Hormuz and this "major announcement on Russian energy", diesel prices for Americans and the rest of the world would fall "by record amounts and quickly".

According to him, lowering prices for Americans, especially farmers, ranchers, and truck drivers, is his "highest priority". He described the announcement as "very big and important". At the end of his statement, Trump added that Iran "will not have nuclear weapons".
