U.S.- Russia agreement on diesel fuel is hindering efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, - Carney

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that the agreement between the U.S. and Russia on the supply of Russian diesel fuel runs counter to efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine and stability in Europe. In his view, the agreement will provide Moscow with additional funds to finance the war.
According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, this was discussed during a phone call between Carney and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During the conversation, the parties discussed a new agreement between Washington and Moscow regarding the supply of millions of liters of Russian diesel fuel to the United States.
"The prime minister was unequivocal: this agreement directly contradicts the efforts of Ukraine, Canada, and other allies to achieve peace and stability in Europe. It will provide Russia with additional funds and help finance its illegal and unjustified war against Ukraine," Carney’s office said.
Canada has pledged to maintain sanctions against Russia
During the conversation, Carney assured Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Canada would continue to impose sanctions against Russia and, if necessary, tighten the restrictions.
"The Prime Minister emphasized Canada’s unwavering support for Ukraine, its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity," the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office stated.
The Canadian government also emphasized that its sanctions policy is intended to help achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
