Russia will not succeed in breaking Ukrainians by targeting their energy sector, - NATO General Grynkewich

Attacks on the energy sector: NATO issues a statement

Russian attacks on energy infrastructure will not break the will of the Ukrainian people, despite the harsh winter.

According to Censor.NET, which cites Ukrinform, this was stated by General Alexus Grynkewich, Commander-in-Chief of NATO’s Allied Forces in Europe, at the Warsaw Security Forum.

The battlefield

"The Ukrainians have done an incredible job over the last few months and, in particular, throughout virtually the whole of 2026. The front line has largely stabilised.

"And this is a huge testament to the fighting spirit of the Ukrainians, their innovative spirit and what they have managed to achieve on this front line, despite the difference in troop numbers and the difference in available resources," he emphasised.

Attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector

According to Grynkewich,  Russian long-range strikes on energy infrastructure, "which are intended to make life difficult for the civilian population and to try to break the will of the Ukrainian people", "will make this winter very hard".

"I would also say that this probably won’t work," he added.

The general remarked that the Ukrainians had been underestimated from the very start of the war.

"People have underestimated the Ukrainians right from the start of this conflict. I have no intention of repeating that mistake. They will get through this winter and emerge from it with even greater determination and fighting spirit," concluded Grynkewich.
