Water, power banks, candles and food: Kyiv residents are urged to stock up in case of emergencies, – KCMA

Due to the intensification of Russian shelling of the power grid, residents of Kyiv are being urged to ensure they have personal supplies in case of emergencies.
This was reported by the KCMA, as relayed by Censor.NET.
The intensity of the shelling is increasing
As noted, efforts are ongoing in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine to repair the damage caused by enemy attacks on the power grid. Energy workers are working round the clock to restore electricity to all consumers, whilst the city’s utility services are working to restore normal water supply levels.
However, the intensity of shelling is increasing. Therefore, as in previous years, the city authorities are urging Kyiv residents to ensure they have essential personal supplies.
Recommendations from the Kyiv CMA
- Build up stock up on drinking and non-potable water. Each adult requires 3 litres of drinking water per day (including fluids consumed with food) and 10–12 litres of water for hygiene and food preparation. It is best to stock up for at least 3 days.
It is noted that 155 drinking water facilities in the capital can operate using generators in the event of power cuts. A map of Kyiv’s drinking water facilities is available via the link. It lists the addresses, technical condition of the facilities and their operating hours in the absence of electricity. We advise you to find the addresses of your nearest drinking water facilities in advance and save them.
- Check the charge levels of your power banks and portable charging stations.
- Insulate your home – seal any gaps around windows and check the external insulation of windows; place aluminium foil or other heat-insulating material between the wall and the radiator.

- Make sure you have a supply of food that has a long shelf life and does not require electricity to prepare.
