Near Bulgaria, drones attacked two ships: one sank; seven Ukrainians were among those rescued

In the Black Sea, approximately 33 kilometers off the Bulgarian coast, drones attacked the vessel Chelsea 3, which had seven Ukrainians on board. All 15 crew members were rescued, while another vessel sank after being struck by the drones.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing a statement by Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev on the social media platform X.
According to the Bulgarian prime minister, three drones struck the Chelsea 3, a vessel flying the Maltese flag and registered in Odesa, during the night.
All 15 crew members, including seven Ukrainian citizens, were taken to the port of Varna. Five sailors required medical attention.
In addition, approximately 31.4 kilometers off the Bulgarian coast, drones attacked another vessel. It sank as a result of the strike. One crew member was rescued.
Bulgaria will summon the Russian ambassador
Radev emphasized that there is currently no reliable information about who exactly carried out the attacks. At the same time, he suggested that their consequences could benefit Russia.
"The logic suggests that the outcome benefits the Russian Federation," the Prime Minister said.
In light of these incidents, Bulgaria decided to summon the Russian ambassador.
According to Radev, the country's permanent missions to NATO and the European Union have already been informed of the attacks.
"Bulgaria continues to seek support for an investigation into the attacks to determine the country of origin of the drones," he said.
Sofia is also appealing to its partners for assistance in strengthening surveillance of its air and maritime space and enhancing its capacity to respond to such threats.
The country of origin of the drones that attacked the ships has not yet been officially identified.
