Europe must switch to wartime regime for arms production, just as Russia has done, - Poland’s Defence Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz

European countries must switch their defence industries to a wartime footing and significantly step up the production of weapons and ammunition. Otherwise, they risk falling behind Russia, which has already organised its military-industrial complex along these lines.
This was stated by Poland’s Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a press conference at the Warsaw Security Forum on 13 October, according to Censor.NET, citing Euronews.
"I am actually in favour of switching to a wartime footing when it comes to production in the defence sector. That is precisely how the Russian Federation is operating at the moment. We cannot ignore this fact," the Polish minister emphasised.
According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, the time has come for Europe to strengthen its defence capabilities, primarily by expanding the production capacity of its defence industry.
He warned that a failure to increase the production of weapons and ammunition in good time would prove to be a costly mistake for European nations.
"This is one of the shortcomings, but it will also have a negative impact on us in future generations," said the Polish Minister of Defence.
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasised that stepping up defence production is essential to enable European countries to ensure their own security independently in the face of growing military threats.
