As a result of a massive night-time attack, Russian forces launched intense strikes on railway infrastructure in five regions of Ukraine, causing significant material damage and train delays.
This was reported on Facebook by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", according to Censor.NET.
"Another night of heavy strikes on railway facilities. The enemy is trying to destroy everything within its reach: locomotive and carriage depots, repair workshops, railway stations and stops, not to mention the rolling stock," the post reads.
Details
According to Pertsovskyi, a massive wave of strikes against the railway swept across the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil regions last night.
"The power supply was knocked out, but our specialists restored it immediately; key routes were blocked due to oversized cargo, so we organised alternative routes and ensured passage. Crucially, everyone was warned in advance, evacuated efficiently and got through the night without any casualties or loss of life. The material losses are significant; we have been working on repairs since this morning," the statement reads.
The capital’s railway junction was halted by a ballistic threat
It is also noted that the capital’s railway hub was halted by a ballistic threat; at present, trains that had been held up for safety reasons are now departing one after the other.
