"Europe’s steadfast support to Ukraine matters more than ever. To help protect its skies, save lives, defend its land," she noted.

Today's tranche will cover Ukraine's most urgent operational needs, particularly for drones and missiles, von der Leyen added.

According to information on the European Commission's website, the funds will be used to purchase drones, air defense systems, missiles, radars, electronic warfare systems, and ammunition.

Prime Minister Koretskyi stated that €2.86 billion is being provided as part of the defense component of the Ukraine Support Loan.

"Against the backdrop of intensifying Russian attacks on our cities and critical infrastructure, this support is vital. More drones, air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition mean more reliable protection for our people and enhanced capabilities for our defenders on the front lines.

We continue to work with our European partners to ensure that the remaining defense funding is provided without delay," the head of government added.
