$5,000 for non-frontline service: organiser of corruption scheme exposed in Dnipropetrovsk region. PHOTOS
Internal security officers from the State Border Guard Service, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation, caught a military officer red-handed who had organised a scheme for the illegal employment of conscripts.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing the State Border Guard Service’s press centre.
Details
The perpetrator priced his ‘services’ at 5,000 US dollars. For this sum, he promised his ‘clients’ placement in one of the State Border Guard Service’s units stationed in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The broker guaranteed his client service without involvement in active combat operations and a subsequent safe transfer to other regions of Ukraine.
The suspect was arrested whilst meeting with a client – at the very moment the full sum of the unlawful benefit was being handed over.
The suspect has been formally charged with accepting an offer, promise or bribe for himself or a third party in order to influence the decision-making of a person authorised to perform state functions, combined with extortion.
The issue of imposing a preventive measure on the suspect is currently being decided. The investigation is ongoing.
