The total amount raised is 100 million hryvnias. Kyivstar is contributing 20 million hryvnias to support the initiative.
"Defending Ukraine’s airspace today is, first and foremost, about saving lives. That is why Kyivstar is joining Operation ‘Interception’ and is contributing 20 million hryvnias to this fund.
"It is important to bring together the efforts of businesses, volunteers and anyone else who can support this initiative, so that we can provide the armed forces with effective technological solutions as quickly as possible," said Oleksandr Komarov, CEO of Kyivstar.
Therefore, the majority of the funds raised will be used to purchase interceptor drones, which have already proven their effectiveness. The Fund will allocate a further portion of the funds to support new solutions.
Serhii Sternenko noted that jet-powered Shahed drones pose a serious challenge to Ukraine’s air defence.
"There is already an effective interception technology in place. Our task now is to help scale it up. In addition, we will allocate part of the funds raised to test a number of promising developments. This will enable us to expand our range of products capable of effectively destroying jet-powered targets," he added.
Since the start of this new phase of Russian military aggression, Kyivstar has introduced a package of measures to support the public and its subscribers, totalling over 5.6 billion hryvnias.
