Production and warehouse facilities caught fire in the Rostov Region

According to local authorities, the Aksai and Chortkiv districts of the Rostov Region, as well as the city of Bataysk, were under attack.

In the Aksai District, a fire broke out in production and warehouse facilities after debris from a drone fell. According to information circulating on social media, the warehouses of the company "AksaykardanDetal" were on fire. The company specializes in the production of mechanical transmissions, propeller shafts, joints, and components for the machine-building industry.

The reports did not specify the extent of the damage or whether there were any casualties.

Moscow reports shooting down dozens of drones

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin repeatedly reported overnight on drones allegedly flying toward the capital. According to him, Russian air defense forces initially shot down 59 drones, and later another 20. In total, he reported that 79 drones had been shot down.

In various districts of the Moscow Region—including Ramenskoye, Domodedovo, Dubna, Odintsovo, Kolomna, and Podolsk—local residents reported air defense activity.

Explosions and air defense activity were also reported in a number of other regions of Russia, including the Vladimir, Smolensk, Tver, Tula, Ryazan, Lipetsk, Kaluga, and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

In Vladimir, according to local sources, explosions were heard overnight. On social media, some speculated that the target might have been the Yandex data center, which, they claimed, had already been attacked earlier this month. There is no independent confirmation of this information in the cited reports.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, air defense systems were reported to be active near Kstovo. However, there was no confirmed information regarding damage to the local oil refinery.

Russia restricted operations at 22 airports

In the wake of the attack, Rosaviatsiya imposed temporary restrictions on aircraft arrivals and departures at 22 airports, including those in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, and Samara.

Restrictions at Moscow airports began to be implemented on the evening of October 15. They subsequently spread to all four of the capital’s airports: Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky.

According to Rosaviatsia, the restrictions were lifted at Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo at 5:06 a.m. on October 16, and at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky at 5:43 a.m. All four airports operated under restrictions simultaneously for more than five hours, and at Domodedovo, the restrictions lasted a total of more than seven hours.

Temporary restrictions were also imposed at airports in Cherepovets, Yaroslavl, Tambov, Penza, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Pskov, Saransk, Ulyanovsk, Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Bugulma, Samara, Cheboksary, St. Petersburg, Kirov, and Izhevsk.

In addition, airspace restrictions in certain areas of the Leningrad Oblast could have affected air service to Kaliningrad. Rosaviatsiya had warned of possible changes to the schedule at Khrabrovo Airport.

The Russian agency cited flight safety as the reason for the restrictions.
