Explosions were heard in Sterlitamak: drones may have attacked soda plant

Drone attack on Sterlitamak: explosions were heard near an industrial facility

On the morning of October 29, residents of Sterlitamak (Bashkortostan) reported explosions and smoke near the "Bashkir Soda Company."

This was reported by Censor.NET, citing Russian Telegram channels and OSINT communities.

According to reports from local residents on social media, several loud explosions were heard in the city. There were also reports of at least two aircraft-type drones.

Preliminary reports suggest that the target of the attack may have been the Bashkir Soda Company plant—one of the largest producers of soda in Russia. The plant produces, among other things, food-grade, calcined, and caustic soda.

Information regarding the consequences of the attack and possible damage to the plant is currently awaiting confirmation.

The city is home to enterprises in the petrochemical and defense industries

Sterlitamak is also home to other industrial facilities, including the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant, which produces synthetic rubbers, antioxidants, and fuel additives.

The city is also home to the federal state-owned enterprise "Avangard," which manufactures products for the defense industry.
