Rada has not learnt lesson of 2022, having refused to divert funds from roads to military salaries, - Zhelezniak. VIDEO
In the run-up to the full-scale invasion, the authorities were allocating more funds to road construction than to defence, and the draft 2027 budget once again sets aside 52.8 billion hryvnias for the Road Fund.
This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak in a video, according to Censor.NET.
What is known?
The MP pointed out that in 2021, 132 billion was allocated from the state budget to roads, and 128 billion to defence.
"From the year’s additional revenue, roads received +85 billion, defence +8.5. The border with Belarus required 17 billion – ‘there is no money’. The 2022 budget allocates a further 19 billion for roads.
And the 2022 Draft Budget set out the following figures: the Ministry of Defence was allocated around 133 billion, 47 per cent of the army’s requirements… Whilst infrastructure construction was allocated a ‘record’ 141.8 billion," noted Zhelezniak.
According to the MP, the lesson had not been learnt by 2026.
"In the 2027 draft budget, the Road Fund is again set at 52.8 billion, and my amendment to divert money from roads to military salaries received a mere 16 votes," he added.
