"No to ’blood grain’!" – Latvians to demand ban on transit of grain from Russia

On November 7, a protest will take place in the Latvian city of Jēkabpils against the transit of Russian grain and crops from the occupied territories of Ukraine through Latvia. Up to 2,000 people and between 150 and 400 tractors are expected to take part.
According to Censor.NET, LSM reports on this.
"No to blood grain": A large-scale protest is being organized in Latvia
This will be the second protest against the transport of Russian grain through Latvia. The demonstration in Jēkabpils has been approved by local authorities.
Participants will rally under the slogan "No to blood grain!" and demand a ban on the transit of Russian grain through Latvian ports.
Ruta Dimanta, the head of the charity organization Ziedot.lv, also criticized the transit of grain from Russia. She called on citizens not to limit themselves to donations in support of Ukraine, but to personally join the protest.
"By cooperating with Russia, we are also funding the war. We are complicit in the killings of children, mothers, and fathers," Dimanta emphasized.
The government explains why it is not banning transit
Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs previously stated that the grain being transported through the country from Russia belongs to Latvia’s allied nations. According to him, it is being purchased by companies from the United States, Japan, and other countries.
With this, Kulbergs explained why Latvia cannot completely ban the transit of Russian grain.
At the same time, experts estimate that Russian wheat exports totaled 1.9 million metric tons in August. This is the lowest figure in the past 16 years.
